Issue/Introduction

Intermittently the Gateway appliance runs out of inodes, this is caused by large amounts of files in the /var/spool/postfix/maildrop directory

Not sure why this occurs we have disabled postfix on all our gateways

Environment

Gateway 11.1.1

Resolution

Most of the mails (99%) are generated due to crontab.  When any job is executed and the jobs cannot run normally it will send email to root.

Set MAILTO=”” variable at the start of your crontab file. This will also disable email alert. Edit/Open your cron jobs: $ crontab -e At the top of the file, enter: MAILTO=""

Additional Information

Need to determine what messages are being stored  maildrop folder

This can be done at anytime not just when the problem occurs

Example:  cat the files in /var/spool/postfix/maildrop

typcal cron job"

# cat 9A74F215
