Site is not registered with this global Manager error during LM OnBoarding

• Local Manager is being Re-OnBoarded.
• GM UI shows the message 

      On the UI Site LM_NAME is not registered with this global Manager. Please register the site on the Global Manager and try again.

• At GM /var/log/gmanager/gmanager.log, you will see the line below
  

    ERROR http-nio-127.0.0.1-64440-exec-77 GmConfigOnboardingServiceImpl 5551 POLICY [nsx@6876 comp="global-manager" errorCode="MP606117" level="ERROR" reqId="ID" subcomp="global-manager" username="admin"] Site {0} is not registered with this Global Manager. Please register the site on the Global Manager and try again.

Environment

VMware NSX 4.X

 

Cause

This issue may occur when a LM is OffBoarded from GM but not from SSP. If the Local Manager (LM) name is subsequently changed and later Re-OnBoarded in to the GM, it will not complete the OnBoarding.

 

 

Resolution

Workaround:

• OffBoarding from GM and SSP should allow you to rename
• OffBoard LM to SSP and GM with the name Nsx-mgr-0
• Now you can onboard LM to either with a new name My-NSX-Mgr.
