Issue/Introduction

When you enable SNMP on your SpanVA appliance, you may want to know which SNMP version will be active by default.

Environment

CASB

Resolution

SpanVA supports SNMP versions v1, v2, and v3.

By default, when SNMP is enabled on SpanVA, the SNMP configuration file:

  • Enables SNMP v3, and

  • Disables SNMP v1 and v2

If you need to use SNMP v1 or v2, you can:

  1. Download the SNMP configuration file under the Settings tab from the SpanVA console.

  2. Edit the file to enable SNMP v1 and/or v2 as needed.

If you’ve previously modified the configuration and want to revert to using only SNMP v3, click “Restore Default Config” under the Settings tab. This restores the default configuration, which enables only SNMP v3.

Note: SNMP v1 and v2 do not require authentication and may appear as vulnerabilities in security scans. For this reason, SpanVA enables only SNMP v3 by default for enhanced security.
