Issue/Introduction

  • In a VCF 9 environment, when navigating to network pools from vCenter UI -> Menu -> Global inventory lists -> Hosts, the following errors are observed:
    Failed to load network pool.
    Authorization Error : Unauthorized access.
There is a restriction with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed.

  • The issue occurs exclusively when accessing the 'Unassigned Hosts and Network Pools' section within the global inventory list of hosts. The 'Assigned Hosts' section, however, displays the host information as expected.

  • Issue was specific to domain users in vCenter and local SSO administrator did not exhibit the issue.

  • Below error is observed when reviewing /var/log/vmware/vcf/commonsvcs/vcf-commonsvcs.log in SDDC manager:
    YYYY-MM-SS THH:MM:SS ERROR [common,OP_ID,8615] [c.v.e.s.e.h.LocalizableRuntimeExceptionHandler,http-nio-127.0.0.1-7100-exec-12] [28O7G1] PERMISSION_NOT_FOUND Permission not found com.vmware.evo.sddc.identity.model.error.PermissionException: Permission not found.

Environment

VCF 9.x

Cause

The issue arose due to insufficient permissions on the SDDC Manager for domain users configured within vCenter.

Resolution

To address this issue, assign SDDC Administrator privileges to the relevant domain users through the vCenter UI.

Navigate to: vCenter UI → Menu → Users and Groups → Groups → SDDCAdmins, then add the appropriate domain user to the SDDCAdmins group.
