Issue/Introduction

  • vSphere RSPAN source is configured with "Normal I/O on destinations ports" to Disallowed.
  • If the destination uplink is used by NSX teaming policy or as a unique pNIC in non-LSP default teaming policy, it will report ERROR event in VC UI, hosts > Monitor > Events. The event will be one of the following, or both:
"Failed to set RSPAN src session Session 0 on portset DvsPortset-0 due to it disallows uplink I/O which conflicts with NSX switch teaming policy DvsPortset-0-TeamLSP".
"Failed to set RSPAN src session Session 0 on portset DvsPortset-1 due to it disallows uplink I/O which conflicts with DVPortgroup teaming policy".

Environment

  • VMware vSphere 7.0.1 and later
  • VMware ESXi
  • VMware vCenter Server

Resolution

In vCenter Server, edit the port mirror configuration profile and set the "Normal I/O on Destination Ports" to Allowed.
