Error " A general system error occurred: Operation was cancelled " while trying to P2V a live linux machine

Issue/Introduction

Using the vCenter server Converter standalone you are trying to P2V a live linux machine and conversion summary thows error " A general system error occurred: Operation was cancelled " .

Environment

VMware vCenter Converter Standalone 6.x

VMware vCenter Converter Standalone 9.0

Cause

The VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Agent , Server and the Worker services are in  starting or in stopped state.  

 

The converter.log shows the following error snippets :

Resolution

Make sure that the following services are in running status on the machine where the vCenter server Converter standalone is installed. 

• VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Agent 
• VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Server 
• VMware vCenter Converter Standalone  Worker
