ESXi installer cannot detect RAID logical devices of the physical server

Issue/Introduction

When you try to install ESXi, the installer detects physical disk devices only and does not detect RAID logical devices.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi

Cause

This might be caused by missing an appropriate driver in the using ISO for detecting RAID logical devices.

Resolution

If you are not using the OEM custom ISO, try using it and check to see if the installer can detect the RAID logical devices. For getting OEM custom ISOs, see VMware vSphere downloads, OEM custom images, patches and addons in the Broadcom Support Portal

When the installer with the OEM custom ISO cannnot detect the RAID logical devices either, engage the hardware vendor for the solution.
