Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • Virtual machine vSAN performance graphs may be missing or not getting generated.

  • "All hosts contributing stats" alarms are reported under vSAN cluster>Monitor>Skyline health

Environment

VMware vSAN (All Versions)

Cause

This issue is caused when Verbose mode on vSAN services are enabled.

Verbose mode triggers high-frequency telemetry across all hosts to generate detailed performance graphs. During this process if host stat retrieval fails or lags, performance graphs may not be generated.

Resolution

Disable the Verbose mode as below.

vSAN Cluster > Configure > vSAN > Services > vSAN Performance Service Settings> edit > Verbose Mode >Disable or uncheck the Verbose mode.

Additional Information

Disabling verbose mode reduces telemetry overhead and also:

  • Reduces the chance of stat retrieval failures.
  • Ensures performance graphs are generated reliably.
