Error "No data centers are available" When Users Log In to View OVDC / vApp / VMs in VMware Cloud Director

Issue/Introduction

  • In VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x, certain users (for example, those with the vApp Author role) may encounter the error “No data centers are available” when attempting to view OVDCs, vApps, or VMs that have been assigned to them by the Organization Administrator.

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.1.1

Cause

The issue occurs when Organization VDCs (OVDCs) are not shared with the affected users, groups, or roles at the organization level.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, follow these steps to ensure that the OVDC and vApps are shared with the intended users:

  1. Log in to the Provider Portal.

  2. Navigate to the Tenant Portal associated with the affected organization.

  3. Go to: Data Centers → Settings → Sharing

  4. Check if the OVDC is shared with the required user(s), group(s), or role(s).

  5. If the OVDC or vApp is not shared, select the appropriate users, groups, or roles and share it across.

  6. Save the changes and user should re-login to verify access.
