Custom alert configured for custom group triggers on all objects

Issue/Introduction

Trying to configure an alert to search or apply only to a custom group per KB 301452, but it still shows the same critical alerts for objects not in the custom group.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

The new alert created is enabled in the Default Policy. It should only be enabled in the policy applied to the custom group.

Resolution

1. Log in to Aria Operations and Navigate to Operations > Configurations > Alert Definitions.
2. Locate the alert definition that should only trigger for the custom group.
3. Click the vertical three dots button and select Edit
4. Click on step 4 - Policies and verify that only the policy applied to the custom group is checked.
