Unable to mount NFS share on ESXi host: Timeout error

Issue/Introduction

Unable to map NFS storage with ESXi nodes.
While trying to mount NFS share, UI errors points at checking VMkernel log for more details: "Mount failed: Unable to complete Sysinfo operation. Please see the VMkernel log file for more details: Timeout"

Environment

VMware ESXi 8.x

Cause

The NetApp NFS server had port 2049 blocked.

Port 2049 is the default and static port for NFS data, on this NETAPP NFS array.

Resolution

Reach out to NFS vendor or local network team to investigate blocked port 2049.
After port 2049 is open, the NFS is able to be mounted.
