This article introduces how to identify virtual NIC(vmkernel adapter, VM NIC) and vmnic mapping from esxtop.
Resolution
For vmkernel adapters(vmk)
- Open a SSH session to ESXi.
- Enter esxtop command.
esxtop
- Press "n". (This is capital sensitive.)
- Find the vmnic that vmk connects to.

For VM NIC
- Take a note of which NIC of the VM is searched for.
- Open a SSH session to ESXi.
- Enter esxtop command.
esxtop

- Find the vmnic that VM NIC connects to.
