Tunnels are down and Host on NSX manager is showing down.

Issue/Introduction

• Tunnels are showing down 
• Hosts are showing degraded

• Tried to 'Sync" the host

 

Cause

This condition can occur when the host configuration becomes desynchronized from the NSX Manager, or after a failed upgrade/remediation where the TEP interfaces fail to initialize correctly on the host's virtual switch.

Resolution

• Follow these steps:
  • Put host into maintenance mode
  • Remediate the host to the correct image, which will cause a reboot of the host. 
  • Move the host out of the cluster.
  • The host will now show in Other Nodes in NSX.
  • You will select the host and do a force delete. 
  • Once it gone from other nodes, you will add the host back to the cluster and wait for the NSX configuration to finish. 

Please monitor the output of "esxcli software vib list | grep -i nsx" to make sure NSX vibs have fully been removed after running the "force delete" command. The host should then be rebooted after vibs have been removed then you can proceed with adding host back to the cluster.
