Issue/Introduction

Issue:

A DETAIL dataset is being written to tape. Each time a incremental or DAILY is run it creates a new generation. Is there a way to MOD the datasets that are created during the day?

Environment:

CA MICS any release.

Resolution:

As these are SAS datasets, you can’t MOD new data to an existing dataset.

Additional Information:

If you are running incremental jobs and have DETAIL dataset on tape, you have to allow enough GDGs to cover the incremental & DAILY jobs.

If you want to keep 3 days worth of DETAIL data on tape and you run 2 incremental jobs, you need to set the GDG limit to 9 generations.
