Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • Replication configuration failed on specific VMs with the error: “Failed to create base virtual disk '.vmdk' for primary virtual disk with key 2000.”*
  • The issue persisted even after removing and reconfiguring replication; affected VMs were not encrypted.
  • The problem occurred on both Enhanced and Legacy replications when using vSAN as the target datastore, but was not observed on the local datastore.

Environment

vSphere Live Recovery 9.x

Resolution

Delete stale objects  from the vSAN datastore. Refer to the document for removal https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/413260/unable-to-configure-replication-on-vm-wi.html
