Service Inaccessible Due to Expired Apache Application Certificate

• An application or service in the vm is inaccessible to users
• The virtual machine is accessible on the network
• There are no errors in the NSX environment
• The underlying network infrastructure has been checked and is confirmed to be healthy
• Other applications and services on the same network segment are functioning as expected

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

The root cause is an expired application-level certificate on the server(s) hosting the service. 

Resolution

• The application was inaccessible due to an invalid certificate within the VM, this is not a VMware NSX or network issue.
• To fix the issue, install a valid certificate and restart the application service inside the guest VM
