Issue/Introduction

• When trying to create/update a Service Mesh it fails with the below error:

  Service Mesh modification failed. Interconnect Service Workflow PrepareFleetPools failed. Error: Interconnect Service Workflow PrepareFleetNetwork failed. Error: Failed to get opaque network details or CVDS dvpg from DB for network name hcx-########-####-####-####-############

Environment

VMware HCX

Cause

1. The network port group linked to one of the network profiles used in the HCX service mesh had already been deleted from the VDS in vCenter. For example, the vMotion port group was removed.
2. The Service Mesh has WAN Optimization enabled, and the Compute Profile contains the NSX-VLAN (NSX does not contain an overlay network).

Resolution

Identify the missing port group and either update the network profile to point to a new port group or create a new one if required. Then, follow the steps outlined below.

For example, If the vMotion port group had been removed from from the VDS in vCenter, and we resolved the issue by following the below steps:

• Created a new vMotion network port group on the vCenter VDS.
• Created a new vMotion network profile on HCX.
• Edited the compute profile to use the newly created vMotion network profile.
• Created a new service mesh using these configurations, which resolved the issue successfully.

For cause 2 (Wan Optimization enabled):

• Disable WAN Optimization on the Service Mesh.
  Note: WAN Optimization is deprecated in HCX 4.11.3.
