Issue/Introduction

When configuring or viewing Service Broker approval policies which using for deployment images, not all may be displayed Consequently, approval policies configured with specific image criteria may fail to trigger correctly or approve deployments.

This issue manifests when image names used in the approval policy criteria contain mixed-case or uppercase characters, as the underlying service does not properly handle case-insensitivity for these image names.

Example: approval policy filter for resources image

Environment

Aria Automation 8.18.1 and potentially earlier 8.x versions.

Cause

The vRealize Automation Service Broker approval service currently relies on older, deprecated APIs for image identification within approval policies.

These legacy APIs do not consistently enforce or handle case-insensitivity, leading to discrepancies when matching image mapping names that contain mixed-case or capitalized letters against policy criteria.

Resolution

  • This permanent fix is not included in the current vRA 8.18.1 release.
  • There is currently no Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) for this fix to be delivered within the vRA 8.18.X branch, due to the significant architectural changes and development effort required for the API migration.
  • The comprehensive migration to the new APIs, which will permanently address this underlying issue, is currently scheduled as part of the VCF (VMware Cloud Foundation) 9.1

In the 8.18.X release of the VRA the functional available workaround is to change image mapping names to use entirely lowercase letters.

Customers are advised to implement the provided workaround and monitor future release notes for updates regarding the availability of the permanent fix.
