Issue/Introduction

This knowledge base article is for fixing existing platform capacity issues for All Flows in Aria Operations for Networks where existing cluster existing with Scenario2.

1. Aria Operations for Networks GUI shows capacity breach error system usage has breached the capacity for platform cluster for All Flows , see screenshot below:

2. As per above screenshot the Aria Operations for Networks are deployed in a 3 Node Cluster.

3. Aria Operations for Networks are deployed in a 3 Node Cluster and deployment in the past was switched to Scenario 2

Environment

Aria Operations for Networks 6.13.0
Aria Operations for Networks 6.14.0
Aria Operations for Networks 6.14.1

Cause

This is expected behavior as the existing platform capacity breach issues for All Flows has exceeded the current Aria Operations for Network platform cluster capacity/limit.

Resolution

To fix this issue below steps needs to be executed

  1. Need to Take Snapshots for the Environment using seps mentioned in KB Best practices to shutdown Aria Operations for Networks Clustered deployments

This is needed in case during Cluster expansion is any issues or failure is seen we can revert to snapshots to get back to last working state.

  2. Deploy required new nodes using OVA deployment via vCenter and complete the set up using steps mentioned in documented in Deployment using vSphere Web Client
    Note:
        a) Ensure the deployment brick size should be same as  existing cluster.
        b) By default new nodes will be deployed with 1 TB of disc, if existing cluster nodes are using 2 TB of disc then you would have to manually add New Disc of 1 TB from vCenter, See documentation Increase the Disk Size

  3. Now expand existing cluster using steps mentioned in documentation Expand or Scale Out Clusters

  4. Since deployment was earlier in Scenario2, after expansion of Cluster in Step 3 execution above, it will auto-switch the existing cluster deployment to Scenario1.

  5. Now you would see Reconfigure option on the GUI, Click on Reconfigure Option to switch again from  Scenario1 to Scenario2. This is expected behavior as mentioned in  the documentation Expand or Scale Out Clusters

If you are on the deployment scenario 2, then you must reconfigure your platform. To reconfigure, on the Infrastructure and Updates page, under in Platform Capacity section, click the RECONFIGURE button.

  6. Reconfigurations is expected to run for 30-60 approximately and post it is completed successfully you should Done button, Click on Done to login to Aria Operations for Networks GUI.

Refer to below screenshots for Reconfiguration and Done button.

  7. Post this the Capacity breach issues for all flows should be fixed on the GUI.

    Refer to screenshots below:
