Issue/Introduction

When change hostname of vCenter in VAMI, it shows error ‘The specified ip address does not resolve to the specified hostname’.

Environment

vSphere vCenter Server 7.x

vSphere vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

The DNS server can not resolve the vCenter Server's IP address.

There two DNS servers are configured, the primary DNS server can resolve the vCenter Server's IP address but the second DNS server can not.

Resolution

Add the correct VC resolution in the second DNS server, or remove the second DNS server in vCenter Server's DNS Settings.
