Issue/Introduction

The SMTP Code 5.7.0 is configured on upstream MTA to have a standard NDR response delivered to the email sender. The customer wants to differentiate other NDRs from those due to DLP policies and have received a request from upstream MTA such as Office 365 to change the SMTP block status code on DLP from 5.7.0 to a customized code such as 5.7.490.

Environment

DLP 16.x with Email Prevent

Resolution

ESMTP status code that is sent back to the upstream MTA when executing a block response rule can be changed using the 'RequestProcessor.BlockStatusCode Override' advanced server settings for the Email Prevent detection server; However, it cannot be customized to all status codes. The only acceptable values/codes are '5.7.0' and '5.7.1'. You cannot use custom values such as 5.7.499.
