ERROR: Agent API initialization failed when running SmPortalVfy.exe

Issue/Introduction

Problem: 

Getting below errors when running SmPortalVfy.exe from

<install_location>\CA\webagent\bin

4/16/16 6:39 AM [SM-APS-61103] Server MyServer at 127.0.0.1...

4/16/16 6:39 AM [SM-APS-61070] ERROR: Agent API initialization failed.

Environment:  

CA Single Sign-On Advanced Password Service 12.52

Cause: 

The SiteMinder Agent module cannot establish an agent connection to the Policy Server.

Resolution:

a)    a) Verify the policy server ip address mentioned in SmPortal.cfg file under  <install_location>\CA\webagent\bin.

Servers=MyServer

MyServer.ip=policy server ip address

b) Verify the 4x agent specified in the SmPortal.cfg does exist in the Policy store (Admin UI) .

For e.g. by default SmPortal.cfg will have two 4x agents – FPS & SMCPW  configured

 Agents = FPS, SMCPW

c) Verify the shared secret of the 4x agent is correct.

e.g.

FPS. Secret = secret

SMCPW. Secret = secret
