Clarity PPM SaaS Clarity FedRAMP Clarity PPM On Premise

Issue/Introduction

Starting 16.3.3 Administrators can now control which users can access Classic PPM by using the Actions workspace. You can disable the Classic PPM Access action to restrict all Clarity users from accessing Classic PPM, including administrators. The information is also documented under section Disable Classic PPM for Users

Environment

Clarity 16.3.3 onwards

Resolution

With this enhancements

  • Administrator’s can now control who can navigate to Classic UI.
  • Administrators can disable access to Classic UI selectively by only allowing certain security groups to access Classic UI.
  • Access to Classic UI is controlled by a new action in Modern UX called “Classic PPM Access”.
  • Channels to Classic UI will continue to work regardless of the setting.
  • Once a user accesses any Classic PPM page through a channel, they will be able to navigate to other Classic pages based on their assigned access rights, even if the Classic UI is otherwise restricted. This behavior occurs because Clarity operates on an HTTP session model; once a session is established for Classic UX pages via the channel, it effectively overrides the newly introduced Classic PPM Access’ action restriction.
  • Users who do not belong to the group that is granted access to Classic PPM will get a 401: Access Denied error.
  • Users will not have access to Classic PPM actions, even if certain Classic PPM actions are made available within MUX, when the ‘Classic PPM Access’ setting is enabled.
    • Classic PPM link in the Clarity MUX menu
    • Bookmarks directly to Classic PPM
    • Classic PPM Action Items with links to Classic PPM
    • Gantt from Clarity MUX Tasks Page

Additional Information

Customer should reduce its reliance on channels back to Classic PPM. This enhancement aims to eliminate users' need to access Classic Clarity. Outside of the need to access the Classic administration area (which should only be for admin users) if a customer still needs to access Clarity particularly the functional side, please raise it via enhancement using Product Management Office hours.
