Issue/Introduction

  • When attempting to test the connection during Webhook plugin configuration in VMware Aria Operations, the following error is encountered:
  • Error messages similar to the following appear in /storage/log/vcops/log/analytics-***.log file indicate a failure to connect to the Microsoft Teams webhook endpoint, with the following error:

Failed to send Webhook: org.apache.http.conn.HttpHostConnectException: Connect to webhook@domain:443 [webhook@domain/##.##.##.##.
####:####:####:####:####:####:####:####] failed: Network is unreachable (connect failed)

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

This error occurs due to the inability of Aria Operations to establish a connection to the Microsoft Teams webhook endpoint over port 443. This network-level issue prevents the Webhook plugin from successfully posting alert notifications.

Resolution

  • Ensure network connectivity from the Aria Operations appliance to the Microsoft Teams webhook endpoint over port 443 (HTTPS). Connectivity can be confirmed using the command "curl -v telnet://webhook@domain: 443"

  • Reconfigure the Webhook plugin by following the steps outlined in the official VMware documentation: Adding Outbound Notification Plug-Ins in VMware Aria Operations

  • If the issue persists, engage network or endpoint team to verify why the webhook endpoint is refusing connections from the Aria Operations.
