Issue/Introduction

  • Accessing the vCenter server URL page we can see the error 
    upstream connect error or disconnect/reset before headers. reset reason: connection termination

Environment

  • VMware vCenter Server 8.0.X

Cause

  • The certificates on the vCenter server are expired due to which the services are not running / in stopped state
  • The VPXD service on the vCenter Server is not running or not accepting connections due to expired certificates

Resolution

  1. Follow the steps from vCert to check which certificates are expired
  2. Once you confirm the expired certificates continue with certificate renewal with vCert

Note: Administrator user and password will be needed to proceed with the steps above
