dependency vibs on HP when upgrading 7.0 to 8.0 HTI-upgrade-vib and nec-upgrade

Issue/Introduction

The upgrade has VIBs that are missing dependencies. Remove the VIBs or use Image Builder to create a custom upgrade ISO image that contains the missing dependencies, and try to upgrade again.

Environment

ESXi host 7.x

ESXi host 8.x

Cause

The ESXi 7.0 host contains VIB/s that are not compatible with the custom image.

sample:

Resolution

$ esxcli software vib list | grep <VIB_NAME>

$ esxcli software vib remove --vibname=<VIB_NAME>

 

Since this is 2 vibs removed on this case best recommended to restart the ESXi host after removing the vibs and re-try the remediation process again on the host
