Issue/Introduction
While connecting a newly created VM to a NSX Segment on vCenter UI, the NSX segment cannot be found among available networks.
Below actions on vCenter UI are performed :
Select VM
Edit Settings
Search for the intended NSX segment at the Network Adapter.
Click on 'Browse'
But the Segment cannot be found. It may be erroneously perceived that there is a sync issue between VC and NSX Managers.
Environment
VMware vCenter Server
VMware NSX
Cause
It is possible that the appropriate Transport Zone was not added to the Host Switch while preparing the cluster for NSX on NSX UI.
While host clusters are prepared for NSX, if a Transport Zone X is not mapped to a VDS, then this VDS will not have access to any Segment which belongs to that Transport Zone X.
Resolution
Go to NSX UI > Networking > Segments
Find the Segment here and check which Transport Zone it belongs to.
Then add this Transport Zone at the Host switch of the cluster's NSX configuration.
If a Transport Node Profile is applied to this Cluster, then the TZ can be added by configuring the Transport Node Profile.
NSX Controllers will send new configurations to Transport nodes, so it is recommended to perform this task during a maintenance window.
