Issue/Introduction

In VMware Aria Operations, under Diagnostics > Certificates, some or all certificates for the vCenter Servers (VCs) integrated via Administration > Integrations is not visible.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

The certificate information under Diagnostics is collected by the VMware Infrastructure Health (VIH) adapter. If this adapter is not functioning properly, certificate details for one or more vCenter Server's may not appear.
The VMware Infrastructure Health adapter is activated by default on Analytical Nodes and Cloud Proxies. Issues such as adapter misconfiguration, failed collection cycles, or problems following upgrades can cause it to malfunction, resulting in missing certificate information.

Resolution

Perform the following steps:

Step 1: Initial Verification:
  • Log in to the Aria Operations UI as an admin user (https://<Aria_Ops_IP_FQDN>/ui)
  • Navigate to Diagnostics > Certificates.

  • Note which vCenter Server's have visible certificates and which do not.
  • Navigate to Administration > Integrations.
  • Expand vCenter Server adapter.
  • Note whether the data collection is happening through Analytical Nodes or Cloud Proxies.

  • Go to Operations > Configurations > Inventory Management.
  • Expand Adapter Instances.
  • Locate and click the VMware Infrastructure Health Adapter instance.
  • Verify the following:
    • Collection State is set to Collecting.
    • Collection Status is Green.

Step 2: Restart the Adapter (If Status Is Not Green):
  • If the Collection State or Collection Status is not receiving data or appears Red.
  • Stop the VMware Infrastructure Health adapter instance.
  • Start it again.

  • Wait for 2 collection cycles (~10 minutes).
  • Re-check Diagnostics > Certificates to see if certificates are now visible.
Step 3: Recreate the Adapter (If Restart Fails):
  • If certificates are still not visible after restarting:
    • The adapter may be malfunctioning due to an incomplete upgrade or other internal issues.
  • In such cases, recreate the VMware Infrastructure Health adapter.
  • Refer to the following KB article for steps to recreate the VMware Infrastructure Health adapter:
  • Wait for 2 collection cycles (~10 minutes).
  • Re-check Diagnostics > Certificates to see if certificates are now visible.
  • Certificates should now be visible for all vCenter Server's.
