Issue/Introduction

  • Introduction: 

    How to change the logging level of the server.log for CA Access Gateway (SPS)

    Background: 

    In case you are having issues with you CA Access Gateway (SPS) and need to enable more logging in server.log to determine the cause of the issue.

    Environment: 

    All versions of CA Access Gateway (SPS)

    Instructions:

    1. Open the logger.properties file found in \CA\secure-proxy\Tomcat\properties
    2. Change: log4j.rootCategory=INFO,SvrConsoleAppender,SvrFileAppender to log4j.rootCategory=DEBUG,SvrConsoleAppender,SvrFileAppender
    3. Restart the secure proxy server and proxy engine for the changes to take effect

    ·   Possible values : OFF, FATAL, ERROR, WARN, INFO, DEBUG, ALL

    ·   This should be used as a troubleshooting step only as this will log many processes of the SPS and could cause the server.log to grow very quickly.  Once you have determined the problem, change this back to error in the server.conf.
