When performing an installation of XCOM the installer reports success, but attempts to use the product reveal major components and binaries are absent.

  • XCOM binaries not installed
  • XCOM installer not working
  • XCOM silent install not working
  • XCOM installer required disk space is 0

Environment

-Redhat 9.4 Linux

-Amazon EC2 Instance

-XCOM Data Transport r12.0 22042 SP00 64bit

Cause

The customer's response file was not created using the process described in the manual.

Unexpected parameters in the response file cause the installer to fail and behave unpredictably.

It should also be noted that a silent install will always attempt to read a file named "installer.properties" from the working directory, regardless of whether the -f flag is used to specify it.

Resolution

Response files should be created using the procedure documented in the manual.

The presence of unexpected parameters in the response fill cause installation failures.
