Is Azure Data Studio required by or a prerequisite for Information Centric Analytics (ICA)?
Release : 6.x
ICA has no dependencies on Azure Data Studio. Removing it from a server hosting any component of ICA (IIS, SQL Server, Analysis Services) will have no effect on ICA's functionality or operations.
Per Microsoft, Azure Data Studio will be retired on February 28, 2026 and Microsoft recommends replacing it with Visual Studio Code. Visual Studio Code is also not a prerequisite for ICA.
Both Azure Data Studio and Visual Studio Code can be used to connect to and perform operations against the RiskFabric relational database and ICA's ancillary data warehouses in much the same manner as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), but Broadcom recommends the use of SSMS for administering the product. Moreover, the procedures in Broadcom's support documentation for ICA are written specifically for SSMS.
