Fault Domains for vSAN Stretched cluster fails to load after vCenter upgrade

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • For VCF 5.1 environment, one of the fault domain for vSAN Stretched cluster fails to load in vSphere Client after vCenter upgraded from 7.0 U3 to 8.0U2.

  • ESXi hosts are still running on 7.0 U3.

Environment

VMware vSAN 7.x

VMware vSAN 8.x

Cause

Cosmetic issue with vSAN Plugin as output of following commands were as expected and normal:

# esxcli vsan cluster get ---> Shows all hosts part of vSAN Cluster ( Data nodes + Witness node)
# esxcli vsan debug object health summary get ---- Shows all objects as Healthy
# esxcli vsan cluster unicastagent list ----> Shows unicast agent list for all hosts.

Resolution

  1. Restart vSAN Health service in vCenter.

    # service-control --stop vmware-vsan-health && service-control --start vmware-vsan-health

  2. Restart vsanmgmtd service on all vSAN hosts (including vSAN Witness host).

    # /etc/init.d/vsanmgmtd restart
