vCenter vpxd failed with ERROR: duplicate key value violates unique constraint "pg_statistic_relid_att_inh_index"

Issue/Introduction

• The vCenter web UI was failed to access.
• The vpxd service was terminated.
• The vpxd.log contains messages similar to:

--/var/log/vmware/vpxd/vpxd.log

Environment

vCenter Server 7.x

vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

It's data corruption with the system table "pg_catalog.pg_statistic" in the vCenter embedded vpostgres database.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, it's suggest to truncate the system table "pg_catalog.pg_statistic".

Additional Information

There was another issue about "SQL execution failed:  vacuum (analyze) vpx_hist_stat".

vCenter Server Appliance fails with error: Error while executing the query" is returned when executing SQL statement "vacuum (analyze) vpx_hist_stat"
