Deleting admin message in message box with subject: HCX system's license has expired and is deactivated

Issue/Introduction

• No option to add new HCX enterprise license in HCX Manager.

• The HCX Manager only presents the option to DELETE or EDIT the "VMware HCX Enterprise (CPU)" license.

• The following log entries are shown in HCX Manager app.log when trying to update the license: /common/logs/admin/app.log

• The new license key shows a status of ACTIVE.

• There is only a single license shown.

• 
  
• The above screenshot is what should be expected as normal.

 

Environment

VMware HCX 4.11

Cause

• The above behavior/log messaging is expected in 4.11.x due to the communication with connect.vmware.com (licensing server) no longer being required during license change scenarios. For more information see HCX Activation Modes.

• Deleting the already active key in order to replace with a new key is not the correct method process to follow.

Resolution

• If the user wishes to update the in-use license key, simply update/edit the key with the new license info.
