Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • Discovering array pairs fails
  • The following error message is displayed:
    • SRA command 'discoverArrays' failed. Connection to storage system <xx.xx.xx.xx> failed. Error : x509: certificate signed by
      unknown authority (possibly because of "x509: invalid signature: parent certificate cannot sign this kind of certificate" while
      trying to verify candidate authority certificate <xx.xx.xx.xx>). Make sure you have entered correct storage system details, port
      & storage system type and system is up and running. Please make sure valid certificate is available in the system.
      • "<xx.xx.xx.xx>" is the IP address to the storage array the SRA is having issues connecting to.

Environment

VMware Live Site Recovery 9.x

Cause

The cause of this error is within the certificate on the storage array being used for array based replication.

The SRA installed on the VMware Live Site Recovery Manager is not able to communicate with the storage array 

Resolution

Reach out to your storage array SRA support team for assistance.

Most likely, the storage array certificate will need to be renewed or regenerated
