Exposing VM Portgroup and Network Name in Aria Operations view

Issue/Introduction

• The VM Portgroup Name or Network Name is not available on the VM metrics page.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

Portgroup property is not activated on the policy assigned to the VM.

Resolution

In order to be able to review the the portgroup name edit the policy assigned to the object as below:

1. On the Aria Operations Product UI go to Operations and then Configurations.
2. In the menu search and select "Policy Definition".
3. Select the policy to edit and then click on "Edit Policy".
4. Select Metrics and Properties tab
5. In the "Select Object Type", expand vCenter and then select "Virtual Machine"
6. Expand Properties, then Network and activate the Port Group  

After activating the property, wait 15 minutes for the UI to reflect the change and to be able to see the activated property under the VM metrics.

Alternatively, by stopping and starting the vCenter adapter instance the changes can also be retrieved in shorter time. For information on how to stop and start the vCenter adapter instance visit the documentation The Accounts Tab
