After adding records and then after a restart of CA Opera we receive the following abend: CAIW880E ACT DATABASE Failure: BROWSE RC=0016

Issue/Introduction

Problem:

After adding records into CA Opera a restart of Opera resulted in the following error conditions:

CAIW880E ACT DATABASE Failure: BROWSE RC=0016
CAIW811E Action Table Build Failure          
CAIW847E Automation Table REFRESH Failure    

How do we resolve this condition?

 

Resolution:

Problem is caused by the ACTFILE going into too many extents and the pointers being out of sync. Allocate a larger ACTFILE.

The SAMPJCL dataset contains the member IW31BLD, which is used to create the databases and to load them with data.  This job uses the member CAIWIDFA from the source library (CAI.CAISRC),   which contains the SYSIN data for IDCAMS to define the ACT database. You can use CAIWIDFA member as an example to allocate a new dataset.
