Issue/Introduction

Need is to create new Protection Group in VMware Live Site Recovery with Array-Based Replication environment.

This is to avoid using Production VMs for testing (failover) purpose.

Need to know the pre-requisites and requirements to take care before creating a Protection Group.

Environment

VMware Live Site Recovery 9.x

Resolution

Follow steps provided below:

1. From Array Management console/UI -----> Create a new LUN, create a replication pair for it and add it to a new consistency group.
   (Note : Storage vendor to be involved if needed)
   
   
2. Create datastores for this LUN pair (at both sites).
   
   
3. Create a new test VM on Primary site placing it on this newly created datastore.
   
   
4. Run Discover Devices on array-pair in Site Recovery UI at Primary site.
   
   
5. Create a new protection Group for newly created VM.
