Issue/Introduction

When trying to upgrade an SDDC Manager appliance in a VCF 5.2.1 environment, the UPDATE NOW button may appear grayed out (instead of blue), and not be clickable.

To verify this issue is occuring:

  1. In the navigation pane, click Inventory > Workload Domains.
  2. On the Workload Domains page, click the management domain.
  3. Click the Updates/Patches tab.
  4. In the Available Updates section, there is an UPDATE NOW button. Clicking the button does nothing, and the button may appear grayed out.

Environment

VCF 5.2.1

Cause

The UPDATE NOW button can be inactive due to the VRSLCM account being disconnected in SDDC Manager's Password Management. When a root or service account password is disconnected for BoM components in SDDC, it can prevent upgrades from being started.

Resolution

Remediate the VRSLCM password in SDDC Manager's Passwrod Management. See "Root user account showing disconnected for Suite Lifecycle" for steps to remediate the password.
