Looping requirement to change appliance root password

Issue/Introduction

• The root password has been changed on an appliance.
• When attempting to login to an appliance as the root user, you are prompted that the password is expired and are prompted to supply the new password.
• After the new password has been provided, you are returned to the login prompt.
• If the root login is attempted again, you are again prompted that the password is expired and prompted to supply the new password.

Environment

• VMware NSX-T Data Center

Resolution

Workaround:

Using the documented procedure for Resetting the Passwords of an Appliance, perform the steps for a forgotten root password.
