When attempting to rename a VM via the vCenter GUI, no dialog box appears to complete the task on any VM object.

Issue/Introduction

• When attempting to rename a VM via the vCenter GUI by right clicking on the VM and then rename, no dialog box appears.
• When checking the ESXi host web GUI, you're able to rename VMs without issue.

Environment

ESXi 7.x
ESXi 8.x
VMware vCenter Server 7.x
VMware vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

This is caused by environmental issues with web browser settings, group policies or networking configuration between your browser and the vCenter Server Appliance.

Resolution

There is no resolution for this issue, as this is an environmental issue.

Attempt to use another browser and test for the same behavior.
Test from another workstation.
