Issue/Introduction

1. You are building a greenfield VCF Operations 9.0 environment. And you are trying to connect to your Microsoft CA so that you can manage certificates at the VCF layer.

2. You created the Microsoft CA Template by following Create and Add a Microsoft Certificate Authority Template.

3. You have no internal firewalls, and you are using your user account for the configuration because it has the privilege to generate certificates in the CA server.

4. When trying to configure the certificate authority, you get the following error: "Certificate authorities update failed" with both your user account and admin account to the CA server.

Environment

VCF Operations 9.0

Cause

Prerequisites are not met as steps under Install Microsoft Certificate Authority Roles were not performed.

Resolution

1. Complete all of the prerequisites under Before You Begin in Configure a Certificate Authority for VMware Cloud Foundation, including all of the sections listed under Prepare Your Microsoft Certificate Authority to Allow VMware Cloud Foundation to Manage Certificates.

2. Finish configuring the CA by following the remaining steps in Configure a Certificate Authority for VMware Cloud Foundation.
