Issue/Introduction

  • An ESXi host with a NIC using the icen driver has a virtual machine configured to use the same NIC as a passthrough device.
  • After powering off the VM and disabling passthrough, the host loses network connectivity over the passthrough NIC using the icen driver.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware vSphere ESXi. There is currently no resolution.

To avoid this issue, use the Shut Down option instead of Power Off for the VM.
To workaround this issue should it occur, reboot the ESXi host.
