Issue/Introduction

After successful integration of the vCenter adapter in Aria Operations using a Service/Custom account, the following object types are not visible under the vCenter inventory tree, even though all other objects from the vCenter Connector are present and the integration/adapter is fully functional:

  • vSphere Namespace (Supervisor Namespaces)
  • Virtual Machine folder (Supervisor specific) (for example, the folder used to contain SupervisorControlPlaneVMs and TKG cluster VMs)
  • Virtual Machines: SupervisorControlPlaneVM
  •

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

The vCenter service user used for integration in Aria Operations was a custom user not assigned to any groups in vCenter.

Resolution

As stated in the Privileges Required for Configuring a vCenter Adapter Instance documentation :

  • Users with Non-Administrator or custom role must be added to the ServiceProviderUser group. Administrator > Single Sign On > Users and Groups > Groups.
  • The ServiceProviderUsers is a group in the vCenter Server Single Sign-On Domain. Members of this group can manage the vSphere Supervisor and collect data from vSphere Namespaces.
