NSX Load balancer Application VIP is reporting intermittent NSX LB 504 Gateway time-out error

Issue/Introduction

• NSX Native Load balancer is in use
• Accessing the VIP IP of the load balancer is reporting intermittent NSX LB 504 Gateway time-out errors.
• The Load balancer and virtual servers are up

 

 

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

This issue occurs when the backend servers do not respond to a request within the idle timeout period configured on the application profile

Resolution

• Increase the idle timeout period configured on the application profile
• Ensure that the application responds within the idle timeout period

• Confirm there's no resource contention issue on the ESXi hosts
