Vertica log file is not rotating

Issue/Introduction

The <catalogDir>/<dbname>/v_<dbname>_node000<#>_catalog/vertica.log filled the disk.


When attempting to check the cron job as the dB admin user the following error is seen:

You (<DB admin username>) are not allowed to use this program (crontab)
See crontab(1) for more information

Cause

DB admin user is not allowed to run cron, therefore the log rotation script never runs.

Resolution

Grant the DB admin OS user permissions to execute cron.

This would need to be done by the OS administrator.

Additional Information

Until you are able to get cron working the vertica.log can be rotated manually.
