modifying OOTB field length

Issue/Introduction

We need to modify an out-of-the-box field length. More specifically, we need to increase the size of asset_num (resource_tag) of the nr object from STRING(64) to STRING(140).

Environment

Service Desk Manager 17.x

Resolution

It's not recommended to modify the length of this OOTB field. 

The recommendation for this scenario is to create a new custom field with a 140-character limit and add it to the form to use as an alternative to the resource_tag OOTB field. Refer to the following for the steps:
