CPU_SUPPORT_WARNING is shown when upgrading to ESXi Server Version 8.0 or later

Issue/Introduction

Upgrade attempt display warning "CPU_SUPPORT_WARNING: The CPUs in this host may not be supported in future VCF releases. Please plan accordingly." 

Environment

ESXi Server 8.x

ESX Server 9.x

Cause

CPU_SUPPORT_WARNING is a hint that the CPU installed on the server being upgraded is on the CPU Support Deprecation and Discontinuation list and may not be supported on next/future major release. 

Resolution

You can proceed with the upgrade to the version being attempted as the CPU is supported on this release. For more details read: CPU Support Deprecation and Discontinuation In VCF Releases
