Issue/Introduction

  • BGP flapping from T0 to Cisco ACI after NSX Edge node vMotioned to newly added host in vSphere Cluster

  • Cisco ACI requires a BGP profile applied to each ESXi host uplink to the Cisco ACI fabric (TOR switch)

  • NSX Edge Node VM was vMotioned to a newly added host to the cluster right before the BGP flap/outage occurred

Environment

Cause

Cisco ACI BGP profile is missing on the ESXi host uplink to the Cisco ACI fabric (TOR switch)

Resolution

Workarounds:

  • vMotion the NSX Edge Node VM back to original host where the BGP peering was working previously

  • Configure BGP profile on Cisco ACI fabric interface connected to the ESXi host in question where BGP peering was lost after vMotion
