Issue/Introduction

The status for a VMware Cloud Director, as displayed in the VCF Usage Meter web interface, shows "PLEASE ACCEPT CERTIFICATE".

Environment

VMware vCloud Usage Meter 4.x
VCF Usage Meter 9.x

Cause

VMware Usage Meter requires explicit trust of the VMware Cloud Director's SSL certificate to maintain a secure connection and collect data. The "PLEASE ACCEPT CERTIFICATE" status is triggered when the Usage Meter has not trusted, or re-trusted, the VMware Cloud Director's certificate. This situation typically arises during the following scenarios:

  • Initial Integration: When adding a new VMware Cloud Director instance to Usage Meter for the first time.
  • Certificate Replacement/Renewal: If the SSL certificates on a VMware Cloud Director (which is already integrated with Usage Meter) have been replaced, renewed, or otherwise modified.

Resolution

To accept the VMware Cloud Director certificate and enable Usage Meter to resume data collection, follow these steps:
1. Log in to the VCF Usage Meter appliance web interface.
2. Navigate to the Cloud > VMware Cloud Director page.
3. Locate the specific VMware Cloud Director instance that shows the "PLEASE ACCEPT CERTIFICATE" status in the Status column.
4. Click the PLEASE ACCEPT CERTIFICATE link or button associated with the VMware Cloud Director instance.
5. Review the certificate details presented in the pop-up window and confirm acceptance.

After the certificate is accepted, Usage Meter will attempt to establish a trusted connection with the VMware Cloud Director server. The status for the VMware Cloud Director instance should update to "OK" shortly, and data collection will then resume.
